For three seasons, guard Anthony James has shown why he one of the most dominant players in the Midwest Basketball League. Now, the former University of Northern Iowa standout will bring his talents back to the Cedar Valley for another season to don the purple and white.
James, who was named the 2016 MBL Championship Game Most Valuable Player and has received multiple MBL All-Star honors, has re-signed with the CourtKings for another season.
“It’s great to have Anthony James back for another season of CourtKings basketball,” said CourtKings owner and general manager Gary Rima. “He’s helped lead us to two MBL championships in the first three seasons of our existence. He’s a leader on and off the court. He’s not only a great player for us, but has been one of the best players in the MBL for the past three seasons. AJ is also a fan favorite and I hope our fans will continue to show that support for him.”
In 2018, James posted an average of 14.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 18 games. The 6’ 1”, 185 pound St. Louis, Missouri native shot the ball 60% from two-point range, 41% from beyond the arc for 52% accuracy from the field.
Basketball fans can catch James and all the CourtKings in action during the 2019 season opener on Sunday, April 7 at 7:30 PM against Iowa Elite Pro at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex.
