Two Game Road Trip Ahead For CourtKings

This past Sunday the Cedar Valley CourtKings impressed fans with a 144-97 win over the North Minneapolis Eagles at home in the Cedar Valley SportsPlex on opening night. Now for the first time in this young season, the two-time defending Midwest Basketball League champions will hit the road for two pivotal Northwest Division games in Minnesota.

The first matchup of the two game swing up north will be played this Saturday, April 14 at 2:30pm in Brooklyn Park, MN at North Hennepin Community College against T.C. Elite. The Elite spent the 2017 season as a member of the MBL’s branding division, where they compiled a 10-3 regular season before losing their playoff opening game to the Chicago Knights by three points. In their first game as a full member of the league last weekend, they won a heartstopper against the Minnesota Lakers at home by a final score of 106-102. Led by Dejuan Flowers and forward Art Harris, the Elite are expected to be a strong rebounding team off the boards. With eleven men on the roster six feet or taller, the Elite can contest and block shots in the paint, having blocked nine shots last week.
Following their Saturday game against the Elite, the CourtKings will take the short trip up to Anoka to take on the Minnesota Broncos on Sunday at 3:00pm at the Pact Charter School. Having played in the same division since the inception of the MBL in 2016, the CourtKings and Broncos have met seven times in the last two seasons, with the CourtKings claiming victory in all seven, most recently in last year’s West Division Semi-Final playoff game by a 114-98 final score. The Broncos kicked off their 2018 season last Saturday with a 112-99 win over the Rochester Roadrunners at home. With forward Akeem Cubie ‘s stellar shooting ability and guard Kavaarian Williams ability to be open to create shots, the Broncos have a strong offense ready to do battle. Like T.C. Elite, the Broncos are also very block heavy thanks to extensive height on the roster.

Be sure to follow the CourtKings on social media throughout the weekend for updates on this two game weekend road trip. To listen in real time, tune in to internet radio broadcaster John Leo 15 minutes prior to opening tip each day for live play-by-play action.
