Just a week removed from a narrow victory over the Broncos in Minnesota, the Cedar Valley CourtKings will be on the road again. This time, instead of heading north to take on a division rival, the defending champions will head east to the Windy City of Chicago to take on a team they have never faced before in their young three year history.
The Chicago Legends (1-5) are in their first season of play in the Midwest Basketball League, and have been off to a rough start in their inaugural year, having claimed victory in only one of their first six games, putting them in fourth place in the Southwest Division. Despite the one win season thus far, the Legends have been able to produce an effective offensive attack, averaging 110.7 point per game as a team, and being able to shoot the ball from the field fairly well so far at 48%.
For the CourtKings (5-0), last week’s four point victory over the Minnesota Broncos served as just the first test in their current four game road trip. With two more games on the road after this weekend to go before they return home to the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo, the focus will be on the game at hand. The CourtKings will look to continue play with strong ball movement on offense and quick transition defense as they look to stay undefeated on the 2018 campaign, and extend their MBL winning streak to 33 games with a victory in their first ever meeting with the Legends.
Tip off is scheduled for 2:00pm from the south side of Chicago on Saturday, May 19. Joel Wauters will have the online radio on cvcourtkings.com with the pregame show beginning at 1:50pm.
