Kings receive at-large bid to MBL Final Four

While the Cedar Valley CourtKings bid to win the MBL West Division title came up short in a 111-102 home loss to the Eagan Bulldogs, the two-time champions will have the opportunity to continue their season.

The Midwest Basketball League has announced the final bracket for the MBL Final Four, which will be played on Saturday, July 20 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The league’s three division champions and at-large team will compete in a single-elimination bracket to determine the final two teams that will play for the MBL championship on Sunday, July 21. Sporting a league best 16-2 overall record, the CourtKings (16-2) were selected over the Chicago Fury (11-4) out of the MBL East Division for the fourth and final spot in the field.

The CourtKings will take on the East Division champion Fort Wayne Vision (14-2) in the second game of the Final Four at 7:00PM. Fort Wayne, the top-seed in the East, qualified for the event with playoffs wins over the Springfield Panthers and Chicago Fury.

Eagan (15-4) will play the South Division champion Dallas Kings (9-1) in the first game at 4:00PM. The Bulldogs punched their ticket to Fort Wayne with playoff wins over the Minnesota Broncos, Iowa Elite Pro, and CourtKings, while Dallas won postseason games against the Fort Worth Foxes and Questlife Warriors to win the South Division.

The winners of the two Final Four games will play for the MBL championship on Sunday, July 21 at 3:00PM.
