After three months of high flying, high scoring basketball, the Cedar Valley CourtKings (14-1) will conclude their 2019 regular season on Sunday, June 30 on the road against the Minnesota Lakers (8-7).
Originally scheduled as a weekend doubleheader where the CourtKings would face the North Minneapolis Eagles on June 29, Cedar Valley will receive a win by forfeit due to North Minneapolis ceasing operations and folding two weeks ago.
It was back on May 5 in Waterloo that the CourtKings won the first meeting of the season against the Lakers by a score of 116-84. Six CourtKings scored in double-digits figures in the win, led by Aundre Hicks’ 28 points. Emeche Wells notched 18, Jared Sutherland 16, Brady Burford 15 and Jaree Crawford 12 points.
With the MBL West Division’s top seed and a first round playoff bye already secured, the CourtKings will look to finish the season strong riding a 13 game winning. As for the Lakers, they are looking to lock down the best remaining seed possible for the postseason. Behind the talent of Art Harris, Quinton Jackson and Roc Rodgers,the Lakers currently sit in fifth place in the MBL West, looking to move up the ladder in their final game of the regular season.
The CourtKings and Lakers will tip-off this Sunday afternoon at 1:00PM at the High School for the Recording Arts in St. Paul.
