Former CourtKing wins second Portuguese title

There’s nothing quite like winning a championship in basketball. Winning back-to-back titles is something else.

Former Cedar Valley CourtKing Eric Coleman, who played for the Kings as a member their 2017 MBL championship team, has won his second straight Portuguese Basketball League (LPB) title with U.D. Oliveirense, based in Oliveria de Azeméis, Portugal.

The team’s second championship in team history comes after Oliveirense defeated Benfica three games to one in the LPB Finals. It is the team’s second straight championship win over Benfica, who has won the most Portuguese championships with 27.

Coleman, a 6’ 7,” 248 pound native of Owensboro, Kentucky, played collegiately at the University of Northern Iowa before playing professionally in Europe in several countries, including France, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine. He signed with the CourtKings in 2017 and was part of their 19-0 season and back-to-back MBL title run. Coleman also saw action for the Kings during the 2018 season as well.

The CourtKings congratulate Eric on his second LPB championship!
