Crawford, Sutherland sign with CourtKings; Johnson re-signs

The Cedar Valley CourtKings have signed two new additions to their roster for the 2019 season, as well as re-signed guard from a season ago.

Jaree Crawford of Cedar Rapids brings a wealth of experience to the Cedar Valley after a successful collegiate career. In his junior season at Division II Adams State, Crawford averaged 11.2 points per game, 1.1 assists and five rebounds per game while garnering a field goal percentage of 48.4% from the field. His play helped earn him Rocky Mountain Athletic all-conference honors. Crawford also played junior college basketball at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas as well as East Los Angeles College. The 6′ 4″, 240 pound native of Gary, Indiana additionally saw playing time for Patriotas De Boyaca in La Liga Profesional de Baloncesto (LPB) in Colombia.

The CourtKings have also signed former MBL Select forward/center Jared Sutherland to the team for 2019. Sutherland scored 36 points when the CourtKings took on the Select on June 16, 2018 in St. Paul, Minnesota. A native of Grand Rapids, MN, the 6′ 5″, 240 played his college career at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. In his final season with the Jimmies, Sutherland averaged 3.6 rebounds per game in 32 games and shot 54% from the field, as well as 41% from beyond the arc.

Guard Mackenzie Johnson also signed his second contract to join the CourtKings for a second season. Signed mid-season in 2018, Johnson made a strong impact from beyond the arc as a long range shooter, averaging 9.9 points per game in 16 games. Johnson also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists ands shot 48% from the field in his first MBL season.
