WATERLOO, Iowa— The Cedar Valley CourtKings (2-3) are set to host the Lincoln Lions (1-0) this Saturday, June 4 at the Cedar Valley Sportsplex in Waterloo. The game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
The Lincoln Lions replace the Chicago Clovers in the MBL West. The Lions were a branding team that won all three of their exhibition games and join the league full-time. The Lions are coming off a double-overtime victory over the Indiana Dream of the MBL East.
The CourtKings come off a loss to the Minnesota Rangers, 93-90. Marvin Singleton, of the CourtKings, led all scorers with 23 points and 8 rebounds. The Rangers moved to 3-2 in the league.
Come out to the game for “Bring a Kid to the Game” sponsored by Cedar Valley Medical Specialists. Buy an adult ticket, get a kid in for free. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. for season ticket holders and 6:30 p.m. for walk-up ticket sales.
Players to Watch
Wakefield Ellison joined the CourtKings after the death of starting point guard, Rashad Carrington. Since joining, Ellison has made an immediate impact on the team, averaging 11.3 points per game and 7 rebounds.
Andre Norris has also made a positive impact on the team, averaging 14.7 points per game and 4.5 rebounds. Norris also averages a steal and 1.5 blocks per game. Norris combines with Marvin Singleton to create a strong defense for the team.
