CourtKings return home to face the Fury

WATERLOO, Iowa—The Cedar Valley CourtKings (7-4) are returning home for a match-up against the Chicago Fury (8-3). Action is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams are coming into the game with wins over the Lincoln Lions. The CourtKings faced the Lions on July 16 and walked away from Lincoln with a victory, 106-90. The Lions and Fury faced off on July 20, with the Fury escaping, 112-111.

Four CourtKings landed in double-figures against the Lions, with Anthony James leading with 26 points. Andre Norris followed at 21 points. Lamar Wall and LaDon Singleton had 13 and 11 points respectively. Clay Cook led the team in rebounding with 9 rebounds in the contest.

Completing the Series


Sunday’s game marks the third meeting of the season and wraps up the 2016 series between the two teams. The teams are tied 1-1.

The CourtKings traveled to the Salvation Army’s Red Stern Center on April 30. The Chicago Fury walked out of that, winning 111-103.

The CourtKings overwhelmed the Fury, 130 -94, when they visited on June 11. The CourtKings landed seven players in double-figures that night.


Players to Watch

Since joining the CourtKings in May, Wakefield Ellison has been a consistent force on the court. Ellison averages 12.4 points per game and 6 rebounds.

Anthony James averages 13.2 points per game for the CourtKings, with 3.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists. James led the team in scoring against the Lions with 26 points.
