After spending the last three weekends away from the Cedar Valley SportsPlex, the Cedar Valley CourtKings are coming home for the first of two home games to kick of the month of June.
The CourtKings had a busy month over the last three weeks with close, competitive wins over the Minnesota Broncos, Chicago Legends, and Springfield Panthers to close out a 3-0 road trip. Now waiting at home for them is another division rival they have yet to face this season in T.C. Elite.
Initally, the CourtKings were scheduled to play at T.C. Elite at the very beginning of the season, but due to winter weather, the game was postponed to mid-June, making this the first meeting of the season. Sitting at 5-4, T.C. Elite is coached by Tamara Moore, former Wisconsin Badgers standout and WNBA player. Saturday’s meeting will be the second regular season matchup between the two squads, as the CourtKings last played and defeated the Elite 110-81 back on May 27, 2017 at home. Since then, the Elite have gone from a branding division team, to a full MBL team competing in the Northwest Division.
The Elite enter this weekend’s game off two straight losses, including a heartbreaking one point loss to the Legends in Chicago two weeks ago, and a 16 point defeat at home at the hands of the Minnesota Lakers last Saturday. Led by Dejuan Flowers and forward Art Harris, the Elite are expected to be a strong rebounding team. Their height will also be expected to play a factor, as eleven men on the roster are six feet or taller.
The doors of the Cedar Valley SportsPlex will open at 6:30pm Saturday night, with the opening tip-off schedule for 7:30pm. For fans that can’t attend the game, Joel Wauters will have the online broadcast call of the action with the pregame show beginning at 7:20pm at cvcourtkings.com. It is also MaidPro of the Cedar Valley and college night! College students can get into the game for $5 will their student ID’s.
