CourtKings lose heartbreaker on the road

After winning back to back home games the Cedar Valley CourtKings (2-3) traveled to St. Paul, Minnesota to battle the Minnesota Rangers (3-2) in a road Midwest Basketball League match up and it was a battle. Both teams were trying grab 2nd place in the league standings as the two teams entered the game 2-2.
The CourtKings led at the end of one period 27-25. A low scoring 2nd period which saw the CourtKings score just 15 points, allowed the home team to take a 51-42 lead to the locker room at the break.
Cedar Valley outscored the Rangers 30-22 in the third period but still trailed by one going in to the fourth quarter. In the final 12 minutes the teams exchanged leads but then the Rangers built an 8 point lead before the visting CourtKings rallied. After pulling within 3 in the final seconds, trialing 93-90, the CourtKings got a steal in their full court press and Marvin Singleton missed a 3 to tie and then an offensive rebound and a second three to tie the game by Singleton rattled in and out at the buzzer.
Marvin Singleton led the CourtKings with 23 points, Lamar Wall added 15 and Alex Coleman was the only other player in double figures as he scored 11. Singleton led the team in rebounding with 8 and assists with 4.
The Cedar Valley CourtKings play this coming Saturday June 4th at home at 7:30pm at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo.
