CourtKings look to avenge lone loss Sunday versus Eagan

In the second week of the season, the Cedar Valley CourtKings (10-1) began a two game road trip to Minnesota by playing the Eagan Bulldogs in the southern suburbs of Minneapolis. For only the seventh time in franchise history, the two-time Midwest Basketball League champions lost a game as the Bulldogs prevailed in a 126-122 win over the CourtKings. Now eight weeks later, the two teams that both top out the MBL West Division will face off for their second and final meeting of the regular season this Sunday, June 9 in the second game of the King’s four game home stand.

While the Kings battled valiantly in their April 13 meeting in Eagan, they were unable to avoid foul trouble accumulating 29 total team fouls in the loss. Brady Burford led the CourtKings with a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, while Anthony James notched 22, and Emeche Wells scored 20.

Since the loss, the CourtKings have rattled off nine consecutive wins en route to taking back the division lead with a 10-1 record. Cedar Valley most recently rolled past the Rochester Roadrunners last weekend 155-96. Veteran Queshawn Roby set a career-high with the CourtKings with 21 points in the win, as Jaree Crawford led Cedar Valley with 26 points, while Burford also posted 21,  and Jared Sutherland and David Stanley each notched 15 points.

Eagan has been tested as well down the stretch, as the Bulldogs have dropped two of their last four games. With MBL veterans CJ Parker, Bryce Williams, AJ Wilson and Kavaarian Williams on the roster, the Bulldogs, who sit two full games back of first place in the MBL West, will be set on winning the season sweep against Cedar Valley.

Sunday’s game will be Dupaco Night at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex. Dupaco members who show their Dupaco card at the door with be granted admission with a discount, $5 for adults and free for their children.

With Sunday’s game also falling during My Waterloo Days weekend, those who show their My Waterloo Days pin at the ticket window get in for half price.

Doors to the Cedar Valley SportsPlex will open at 6:30PM for the 7:30PM tip-off. Adults single game tickets cost $10, while season tickets run for $59. Youth and college students can purchase single game tickets for $5, season tickets for $30, or youth/college student courtside seating for $15.
