In the last several years, a number of CourtKings have had the opportunity to play outside the United States in Europe as well as all over the world. Over the past weekend, a Midwest Basketball League champion added another title to his list of accomplishments.
Eric Coleman, who played for the CourtKings as a member their 2017 MBL championship team, played as a power forward in the Portuguese Basketball League (LPB) for U.D. Oliveirense in Oliveria de Azeméis, Portugal. This past weekend Oliveirense was crowned the LPB champions after a three game sweep of F.C. Porto in the best of five series to win their first title in the highest level of professional basketball in Portugal.
Coleman, a 6’ 7,” 248 pound native of Owensboro, Kentucky, played collegiately at the University of Northern Iowa before playing professionally in Europe in several countries, including France, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine. He signed with the CourtKings in 2017 and was part of their 19-0 season and back-to-back MBL title run. After signing with Oliveirense after the 2017 championship in the MBL, Coleman averaged 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while playing in Portugal. Still under contact with the CourtKings, he could return to the Cedar Valley for further play.
The Cedar Valley CourtKings congratulate Eric on his most recent accomplishment as an LPB champion!
