After splitting two road games last weekend in Minnesota against the Eagan Bulldogs and Minnesota Broncos, the Cedar Valley CourtKings (2-1) return to the Land of 10,000 Lakes this Saturday, April 20 for another crucial road game, this time against the Rochester Roadrunners.
Rochester sits in a tie for sixth place in the MBL West division with the Broncos at 1-2, two games back of the division lead. The Roadrunners, who last season were swept in all three regular season meetings with the CourtKings, finished the 2018 season with a double-digit loss record.
In 2019, the Roadrunners have shown they are able to compete with some of the division’s best teams. Rochester opened the season with a 24 point win over the North Minneapolis Eagles. In their next two games, despite falling short, the Roadrunners gave the Broncos a challenge in a 131-128 loss in Anoka on Saturday, followed by a 123-119 loss to the Minnesota Lakers in St. Paul on Sunday.
For the CourtKings, who sit one game back of first place, they look to extend their momentum from Sunday’s win in Anoka. Jaree Crawford, who averaged 25 points over the past two games, and Emeche Wells, who notched 20.5 points per game last weekend, both look to continue their hot starts to the 2019 campaign, as veteran Brady Burford looks to stay dominate on the inside game, and Anthony James looks to stay hot from beyond the three point line.
Tip off for Saturday’s game against the Roadrunners is set for 3 p.m. Fans can follow the CourtKings on their road trip to Rochester on social media with live updates on Facebook and Twitter. The Voice of the CourtKings John Leo will also have the live play-by-play broadcast streaming at meridix.com with pregame shows beginning ten minutes prior to the opening tip of each game.
