Cedar Valley Looks To Defend Home Court In Home Finale

In the 25 basketball games the CourtKings have played in the Cedar Valley SportsPlex since their inaugural 2016 season, they have not wavered in defense of their home court. Now, that unbeaten home record will be put to the test as T.C. Elite comes to town Saturday night for the CourtKings’ final home game of the 2018 campaign.

The CourtKings (12-1) had the past week off from the hardwood and will look to build momentum heading into the Midwest Basketball League Playoffs later this month in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Having already locked up the Northwest Division title and the one-seed in the division with wins over the Minnesota Broncos and Lakers a week earlier, the CourtKings will look to avenge their lone loss of the season thus far to the Elite back on June 17th in Minneapolis. The 106-97 loss snapped their league record 38-game winning streak against MBL opponents and was their first since July 2016.

T.C. Elite (9-5) enter Saturday’s matchup after slipping past the Minnesota Lakers 103-95 in St. Paul last weekend. The victory pushed them into second place in the division behind the CourtKings with two games remaining. In their last meeting with the CourtKings, the Elite’s C.J. Parker and Elijah Sabah both exploded for 25 points each, while FreeQuincy Bey scored 20, and A.J. Wilson added 14. The CourtKings were led by Aundre Hicks with his 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Marcus Smith also contributed 12 points, while Johnny Jackson added ten.

Tip off for Saturday’s final home game is set for 7:30pm. It is Fan Appreciation Night and our final College Night of the year. College students can get into the game for $5 with their student ID.
