Former William Penn University Statesmen standout Brady Burford has signed on to join the Cedar Valley CourtKings for the 2018 season. Standing at 6’ 5”, and 220 pounds, the Chicago, Illinois native joins the CourtKings after compiling an extensive resume of basketball experience.
After graduating from Bogan High School in Chicago, Burford playing two seasons of junior college basketball at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois where he averaged 17.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field in 30 games. He transferred to NCAA Division II Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma for one season, where in 19 games he put up 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, all while maintaining a strong 47.4% shooting percentage. Burford wrapped up his collegiate career at William Penn where he helped lead the Statesmen to a 29-7 record in 2016 and an appearance the NAIA Division I National Quarterfinals. In addition, he received honorable mention recognition from the NAIA during his final season.
Burford spent his first year out of college playing for BBC Arantia Larochette in Europe. After the 2017 season he returned to Iowa and now lives with his fiancée and their 18 month old son. “I’m ready to bring it to the table” Burford says. “I’m here to play hard and help try to win a championship and keep the tradition going.”
