Cedar Valley CourtKings win exhibition game

CHARLES CITY: The Cedar Valley CourtKings played their one and only exhibition game of the 2017 pre-season on Sunday in Charles City against the Wisconsin Game Changers. The CourtKings, the defending MBL CHAMPIONS, would win this high scoring affair 137-124.

Interim Head Coach Michael Mohlis directed the team to this exhibition win, his first game as the head coach.

The CourtKings used balanced scoring with 7 players scoring in double figures. Wakefield Ellison led the winners with 23, Raheem Tyner added 19, Anthony James scored 17, Johnny Jackson had 16, Alex Houston and Aundre Hicks both had 14 and Dylan Hale added 12. The CourtKings David Stanley and Terry Carter each scored 8 points and BJ Walker rounded out the scoring with 6.

Wisconsin was led by Steve Baker who pumped in 51 to lead all scorers, Cornelius Steel added 26 and James DeVault was the other Game Changer to score in double digits as he added 22.

The CourtKings led at the end of every quarter. It was Cedar Valley 31 Wisconsin 22 at the end of 1, CourtKings led 68-49 at half, The CourtKings were up 100-83 at the end of 3 before winning 137-124.

The Cedar Valley CourtKings will now prepare for their regular season opening games. On Saturday April 8 they will travel to Milwaukee to take in the Storm before returning home Sunday night April 9th to play their home opener at 7:30pm against the Minnesota Broncos at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo.
